Readers enchanted by all things minuscule will be easily absorbed by the offerings in this pocket atlas of small-scale wonders. Its whimsical ink illustrations are packed with detailed drawings of model towns, tiny animals, and even an elaborate fairy castle that kids will love poring over. These minimarvels are arranged geographically, with each section opening with a map showing their locations and often including several attractions in addition to those described in the text. Curiosities follow from Africa, Europe (a snow globe museum), North America (world's smallest postal service), Central and South America, Asia and the Middle East, Australasia and Oceania (world's smallest frog), and Antarctica. Featured attractions appear on two-page spreads with a short paragraph of text and a few interesting facts. Metric measurements are used for particularly diminutive things, but examples of comparative size will guide American readers' understanding. For instance, the bee hummingbird weighs 1.6 grams, or half the weight of a penny. Kids will enjoy this fascinating look at the world, perhaps only wishing more wonders were included in its pages.--Smith, Julia Copyright 2017 Booklist
