Review by School Library Journal Review
Gr 2-4-These books walk readers through a simplified version of the history of several European soccer clubs. Covering some of the most popular teams in Europe, each title includes historical facts plus brief bios of each team's most well-known players. Occasionally, a photo of a player will be on a page where a different athlete is discussed. The bright images and big-name stars are likely to pull in readers, though they probably won't be picked up by casual browsers. VERDICT Consider for avid soccer fans. © Copyright 2016. Each volume kicks off with the same intro before launching into team-specific details about the host city's history, the club's founding, and influential events. Key figures (owners, managers, players), winning and losing seasons, and individual matches are also described. They're whirlwind team histories, but die-hard fans won't mind. Stock photos are included. There are three other fall 2015 books in this series. Timeline, websites. Bib., ind.
