Gaughan (Knitting Nature) is a well-known figure in the knitting world whose textured designs bring high-fashion to handknit garments and accessories. Her latest is a cable-focused stitch dictionary featuring over 150 different knitted cables, along with projects that highlight their beauty. Gaughan takes plenty of time to explain cable knitting skills, including chart reading, and the patterns can be customized based on her Stockinette Stitch Equivalent system, which describes cables based on both the number of stitches and on the width of the panel. Each design includes a close-up, full-color photograph, often featuring multiple crosses, as well as written and charted instructions. VERDICT With designs ranging from basic ropes to elaborate cabled panels with multiple crossings, and styles ranging from traditional to eye-catchingly modern, this collection is a must for fans of cable knitting. © Copyright 2017.
