Asprey, known for his popular book The Bulletproof Diet (2015), is a Silicon Valley businessman who ventured into the realm of biohacking—"taking control of your own biology so you can make your body do what you want it to do." After 17 years and $750,000 invested in biohacking, Asprey wrote this book to provide a way for readers to apply his simple life hacks in order to "turn up the energy" in one's brain. The book is separated into sections: health and diet (including a pitch for Asprey's own Bulletproof Coffee), environment (air and lighting), and exercise and sleep. Much of the work centers on how the mitochondria throughout our bodies affect our brains. Readers who might not want the lengthy explanations on how to achieve this may still appreciate the shopping list and two-week step-by-step plan included in the second half of the book.
