Review by Booklist Review

Inward searching has become de rigueur these days, as executive after executive tells his or her story of success, failure, and enlightenment along the way. Once head of Gatorade and Equinox, with stints at other major brands, O'Hagan explains her life of continual reinvention, calling it extreme you. Many of her role models will be familiar Sam Kass, once Obama White House chef (sans culinary education); Condolezza Rice, who trained as a classical pianist; Angela Ahrendts, now a senior leader at Apple. What she garners from these and other leaders is imparted to readers primarily through 10 commandments from check yourself out to break yourself to make yourself. Both her embarrassing missteps and successful moves are chronicled, accompanied by extreme moves at the end of most chapters, such as cultivating extreme independence and picking the best pit crew you can find. One woman's story that could serve as motivator and coach.--Jacobs, Barbara Copyright 2017 Booklist
