Gr 3-8-Aspiring entrepreneurs in the market for a complete yet compact guide to business need look no further. The work opens with the reasons kids should consider starting a business and ways to choose the right one. A succinct explanation of the three main types of companies and their advantages and disadvantages follows. The importance of creating a business name and brand are explored in addition to the establishment of appropriate mission statements and the necessity of thorough market research in combination with traditional and social media marketing. An optimistic tone resonates throughout. Various entrepreneurs are profiled to whet readers' appetites, with websites given for those desiring more information. A mix of multishaped offset boxes containing dos and don'ts, "whiz biz" quizzes, and other tips accompany the main body of text. A well-thought-out color palette decorates the six chapters, glossary, and index. Amusing, captioned illustrations add depth and create intellectual white space, allowing for a brief respite from the dense material. VERDICT This quick read, containing all the essentials business-curious kids need, is a recommended purchase for most middle grade collections.-Cindy Wall, Southington Library & Museum, CT © Copyright 2016.
