Review by Booklist Review
First published in the UK, the books in the Healthy Eating series introduce basic food concepts in a straightforward way. The topic reflects of-the-minute concerns about food and health, yet the books manage to discuss health benefits in a cheerful tone without becoming didactic or preachy. Clean layouts boast many well-chosen photos, large fonts, and highlighted vocabulary. Readers will be drawn in by the bright and colorful illustrations, which make fruit, vegetables, meat, and fish look appetizing, whether raw or cooked. Although the books tend not to follow a narrative structure, the content makes sense and is well organized. The text flows nicely, from the definition of the food category to specifics and questions, ending with a selection of interesting and often little-known facts. Vegetables categorizes vegetables by their source on the plant: roots, leaves, or flowers. Readers will enjoy learning more about the healthy foods they eat with this simple series.--Aronin, Miriam Copyright 2016 Booklist
