Ray ("Doodle Stitching" series) combines her whimsical embroidery motifs with simple patchwork in this quirky, cute collection. The projects include a soft book for babies with embroidered animals; several small bags and pouches; a three-dimensional mushroom-shaped pincushion; and decorative items for the home, including pillows, miniquilts, and table toppers. Each project includes instructions for both sewing and embroidery, templates as needed, and traceable motifs for embroidery. A guide to the embroidery stitches and hand-sewing techniques used are included; basic machine-sewing knowledge is assumed. VERDICT Stitchers who have enjoyed books in the "Doodle Stitching" series will have fun with the projects here, and quilters interested in exploring simple embroidery will find a solid overview of the basics. © Copyright 2016.
