Review by Booklist Review

Aren't there truly enough how to be creative workbooks on the market? San Diego professor and former marketer and author (Fail Fast or Win Big, 2015) Schroeder proves that there's more than enough room for a how-to-brainstorm tome, especially when he defines the right circumstances to encourage innovation. What will spark corporate inspiration? Four elements mind-set, environment, habitat, and brainstorming tools which become the focus of at least four separate chapters, along with insights and key takeaways (e.g., entrepreneurial examples like GoPro, Fitbit, and Starbucks). In environment, for instance, the attributes of a leader play a big role in innovation, from honesty to a take risk attitude. By far the most valuable addition to anyone's thought library are his extensive explanations of six brainstorming tools (the Phoenix list, IdeaGen, SCAMPER, Blue Oceans, Tempero, and Observation Lab). It's almost a plug-and-play answer to initiating innovation, though having the right mind-set, environment, and habitat would be immensely valuable.--Jacobs, Barbara Copyright 2016 Booklist
