Review by Library Journal Review

Scala Quinn completes her trilogy of Mad Hungry cookbooks with this practical, economical, and (above all) approachable collection of recipes drawn from her experiences feeding a family of five. Flavorful dishes such as spicy chicken and chickpeas (cooked in a single pan for easy cleanup), pizza parlor salad, broiled black pepper sirloin steak, and bananas flambe with coconut sorbet are slightly more sophisticated than their predecessors, reflecting the expanded palates of the author's formerly picky children. The underlying goal is to engage busy families in daily cooking, and almost all of the recipes can be easily made on a weeknight, excepting a few slow-cooked dishes. VERDICT Quinn's Mad Hungry books are fantastic for novice cooks who like simple, everyday recipes without heavy-handed diet and lifestyle advice. Her latest doesn't disappoint. © Copyright 2016.
