Review by School Library Journal Review

Toddler-PreS-Dodd is back with two early learning companions that help teach emotional concepts to young children. Both feature a parent/child pair: two bunnies in Love, and two otters in Together. Each title is quiet and reassuring in its message to young children of being loved and the importance of spending time together. Take the following from Love: "Sometimes love is quiet and it needs no words at all/Love is there to catch you when you are about to fall." Or this passage from Together: "Today we had a joyful day. We both learned something new/I taught you lots of things I know and learned so much from you." Digital artwork features warm gradations of soft blues, sage greens, and lavender hues. Every other spread is embellished with golden (Love) and silver (Together) accents that offer a touch of sparkle. VERDICT These sweet stories are well suited for lap sharing and one-on-one readings, over and over again.-Lisa Kropp, Lindenhurst Memorial Library, NY © Copyright 2016. Dodd continues her rhyming odes to parental love. An otter parent savors the many types of days with its pup (Together) and a rabbit defines love through everyday interactions with its baby (Love). The sentimental texts will touch new parents; Dodd's cuddly digital art with well-placed metallic accents may catch little eyes. [Review covers these titles: Love and Together.] (c) Copyright 2017.
