Review by Booklist Review

Here's a pleasing, step-by-step guide to creating fashion for your regular 30 cm fashion doll. Each design piece begins with a picture of the finished product and a supply list with specific measurements for the fabric. Easy and explicit directions given in a matter-of-fact tone guarantees success by providing the pattern, describing how to fold the tracing paper, and so on, until voilà: Your doll's top is finished. A simple drawing accompanies each step, abating any confusion. All patterns are given in actual size, which allows for easy tracing and verification of progress. The designers present an array of clothing options, from tunic tops to party dresses, with an option to create a few handbags (a fringed bag or evening bag) to top off the ensembles. A challenge follows the patterns: Why not have some fun creating your own designs? Most helpful for a beginning designer is the advice for basic sewing (buttons, snaps, running stitches) at the conclusion. An engaging and fun purchase for the budding designer.--Oppelt, Meghan Copyright 2016 Booklist
