For Shea, a retired Navy SEAL who now serves as a performance coach and the founder of Adamantine Alliance, his heroic combat experiences illustrate his "adamantine," or unbreakable prescription for living. Drawing upon the principles of physical fitness, attention to relationships, wealth stewardship, spirituality, and intellectual effort, Shea outlines 13 lessons that are not necessarily tangible-but that when executed will make readers unbreakable. His concept is built on "Internal Dialogue," or the musings and chat of the mind that compel one to succeed, prevail, or survive against all odds, rather than fail because of doubt, naysaying, or insecurity. Superficially, his instruction for life is in the form of a legacy message to his children should he not return from war, with interspersed homilies from his wife, Stacy, supporting his narrative. Their expressed mutual love and passion demonstrates the importance of relationships in his life advice. VERDICT The heroic drama of Shea's experiences exemplifies the lessons of this motivational book. It will appeal to both those who might find the "adamantine" way a guide for their life, along with readers interested in the exciting accounts of SEALs in combat.-Mark Jones, -Mercantile Lib., Cincinnati © Copyright 2015.
