Review by Booklist Review

This lovely, slightly fantastical board book takes a creative look at sensory experiences. Do you believe I can touch the stars? it asks, depicting a young girl soaring through the night sky on the back of a giant owl. In rich double-page spreads, it follows the same girl as she listens to colors, smells a rainbow, and sees music. Though the concept of synesthesia will likely be beyond younger readers, they will enjoy the abstract perspective. The colorful and imaginative paintings sparkle with whimsy and will attract many, and perhaps encourage children to look at the world with new eyes.--Reagan, Maggie Copyright 2016 Booklist

Review by Publisher's Weekly Review

Marshall (I Hate to Read!) and Italian artist Domeniconi (Lola and Me) offer a dreamy, almost synesthetic meditation on the way we perceive the world. "Do you believe I can touch the stars?" a girl asks, shown standing on the back of a giant owl and clutching a five-pointed star. Other unexpected questions follow ("Listen to colors? Smell a rainbow?"), followed by an answer: "I believe you can smell the flowers and listen to the bees,/ But I would rather listen to the moon!" The scenarios may well lead to supplemental conversations, and Domeniconi's richly rendered and gently surreal images suggest possibilities in the impossible. Ages 2-4. (Mar.) © Copyright PWxyz, LLC.
