Review by Library Journal Review
This guide assumes absolutely no prior knowledge of photography. Every chapter first provides an overview of the topic, then goes on to explain the subject or theory in greater detail, using numbered diagrams, equipment close-ups, and illustrations. In addition, each chapter follows up with step-by-step exercises that walk readers through applying what they have learned. Sections address equipment, exposure, focusing, lenses, available light, flash, and image enhancement. Gatcum (Landscape Photography) pares down information to only the simple, easy-to-understand basics, which is a definite challenge with a discipline as technical and complex as photography. This second edition provides an update on the 2013 original, reflecting the latest technological developments and trends. VERDICT Though perfect for novices, this manual will also be helpful to readers with prior knowledge of analog photography wishing to translate their skills to the digital realm. © Copyright 2016.
