Review by Booklist Review

Though most dogs are more likely to be found eating used tissue out of the garbage than performing circus tricks, the dogs in this early reader, such as Ozzy, the fastest tightrope-walking dog, aim to impress with more sophisticated feats. Every pup is notable for breaking some kind of world record, and each page spread is dedicated to one such champion. Simple sentences in a large font detail the world record, such as largest dog breed, smallest living dog, most bottles recycled by a dog, farthest dog dock-jump, and so on. Of course, what would a book about dogs be without full-color photographs of each pooch showing off its remarkable skills to accompany the text? The combination of adorable pups, world records, and easy-reading text is a winning one, which many kiddos might want to read over and over again. An easy purchase for those who aren't quite ready for a more traditional Guinness book, and a good addition to a collection of nonfiction early readers.--Linsenmeyer, Erin Copyright 2016 Booklist
