Review by Booklist Review

Defining iconic buildings as the most famous buildings, this volume from the Iconic Designs series introduces a surprising array of impressive structures, from the early twentieth-century New York landmarks (the Flatiron Building, the Empire State Building) to soaring new towers (Dubai's Burj Khalifa, London's The Shard). In between, Graham discusses notable places such as Fallingwater, the Sydney Opera House, and the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, as well as more utilitarian ones, such as the Pentagon and the Vehicle Assembly Building at the Kennedy Space Center. Occasionally, an added section introduces an architect after showcasing one of his buildings. Illustrated with decent photos, the clearly written text includes intriguing factoids as well as solid information about the buildings' design and construction. A fine addition to the architecture shelves.--Phelan, Carolyn Copyright 2015 Booklist
