Gr 4-8-While there are no shortage of titles on animals, this excellent series continues to distinguish itself from the herd. Stunning photographs, sidebars with intriguing facts, and engaging prose are hallmarks of this set, and the chapters describing each creature's role in folklore or pop culture add to the fun (The Little Mermaid's Sebastian and The Lion King's Timon make appearances in, respectively, Crabs and Meerkats). © Copyright 2015. The eight major varieties of iguana from around the world are examined through informative text and remarkable close-up photographs. Appearance, habitat, diet, behavior, conservation efforts, and presence in human culture are all addressed in detail, while sidebars provide additional information. Although lengthy chapters and the absence of a table of contents make quick reference difficult, thorough indexing helps mitigate this drawback. Bib., glos., ind. (c) Copyright 2016.
