Review by Library Journal Review

The U.S. edition of Rigg's (Halloween Treats) guide to making and packaging confections features 74 recipes for homemade candies, including chocolates, fruit pastilles, toffees, and more. Novice and intermediate cooks who aren't quite ready for Peter Greweling's Chocolates and Confections can start with such simple recipes as Aztec truffles and salted butterscotch popcorn and work their way up to the more challenging hazelnut caramel chocolate bars and candy canes. Some recipes call for chocolate molds and potentially hard-to-find ingredients (e.g., sheet gelatin, liquid glucose, sunflower oil), for which Rigg includes a list of suppliers. VERDICT A beautifully designed collection that offers notably inventive variations on marshmallows, nougat, and Turkish delight. Use this as a resource for homemade gift ideas. (c) Copyright 2014.
