Review by School Library Journal Review

PreS-Dodd's series features sweet and simple stories with solid messages. When I Grow Up is no exception. A friendly cub shares with a grown-up bear his wishes and dreams. He wants to be clever and funny, big and strong, and kind and loving. He aspires to be wild and free. Ultimately, the little bear wants to be an individual and the best version of his true self. The emphasis on character traits and personal fulfillment is refreshing. Throughout the pages, gold sparkles in contrast to the matte forest blues, browns, and greens. It's eye-catching and hints at the hidden message for greatness. VERDICT While toddlers and preschoolers may not be planning their futures so thoroughly just yet, the rhyming text is perfect for this audience. A welcome addition.-Kaitlin Malixi, Virginia Beach Public Library © Copyright 2015. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. No redistribution permitted.
