Review by Library Journal Review

Sarah Adams (Marta Dusseldorp), a widowed Australian nurse who was married to a Jew in Europe during World War II, has returned to Australia at war's end, to Inverness, a rural town not far from Sydney. There, she incurs the wrath of Elizabeth Bligh (Noni Hazlehurst), matriarch of the local elite family, along with gaining the love of her widowed son, George (Brett Climo), who asks Sarah to marry him. Bligh family secrets include (but are not limited to) the sexuality of Elizabeth's grandson James and the parentage of her granddaughter Anna, adopted by George but really his niece. Viewers already addicted to the series during Season 1 will find this a much darker offering, with some grisly scenes, but the stories continue to be compelling. VERDICT The acting, camera work, direction, and production all are outstanding. Highly recommended for public libraries.-Sheila S. Intner, emerita, Simmons GSLIS at Mt.
