Review by Library Journal Review

Author and entrepreneur Rose is the creator of JewelryFromHome.com and founder of the London Jewellery School. She proposes that anyone can create fashionable pieces of eye-catching jewelry with a modest investment in tools and a fundamental knowledge of bead stringing and wire manipulation techniques. The book guides readers through 18 projects that include necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings, with each piece relying on basic construction steps to assemble beads using wire connections. Some incorporate feathers, buttons, and suede to create unusual effects. Close-up, color photographs provide effective instructions on the steps involved in executing each technique. Pieces range from simple to complex, but all are within the grasp of beginner crafters. VERDICT The author fulfills her promise to demonstrate how to create colorful, stylish pieces of jewelry. Although certain jewelry-making techniques are best mastered by participating in live demonstrations, those discussed here are presented in a straightforward manner, with solid illustrations, and can be duplicated by following the book. Home-based hobbyists who are new to these skills, and even experienced crafters, could improve their proficiency and expand their knowledge of design concepts by creating these pieces.-Deborah A.
