Review by Library Journal Review

Contrary to its title, this debut cookbook from UK food blogger Mabbott (lizzieeatslondon.blogspot.com) covers far more than Chinese cuisine. Like Leemei Tan's Lemongrass and Ginger, it features varied Asian recipes, including rich Malaysian curries, sour Korean kimchis, and refreshing Vietnamese snacks. Mabbott is careful to explain potentially unfamiliar ingredients and cooking tools, and she provides step-by-step photos for complex techniques, such as rolling Chinese chive breads (a version of scallion pancakes). Dishes such as durian ice cream, Thai-style garlic scapes, and fish paste-stuffed eggplant will thwart some readers at the grocery store, but they're not difficult to prepare. VERDICT A vibrant Asian cooking collection for intermediate to advanced cooks. © Copyright 2015. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. No redistribution permitted.
