Review by Library Journal Review
A home is an expensive investment, one worth maintaining. Coauthors -MacLellan and Wolfson, both construction specialists, outline home maintenance in a way that is detailed and understandable. Chapters are arranged by different sections of the home, but the absence of an index is a handicap. Despite its knowledgeable advice and fantastic tips, this book is not a how-to. There are no step-by-step instructions or helpful illustrations. The focus is instead on diagnosing issues, why maintenance is necessary, and when to hire a professional. It pairs well with either The Complete Do-it-Yourself Manual Newly Updated or Family Handyman Whole House Repair Guide, both by the editors of Family Handyman. VERDICT By its very design, this volume cannot stand alone. The maintenance lists are clear but somewhat lazy in organization. An additional purchase, particularly aimed at new homeowners. © Copyright 2015. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. No redistribution permitted.
