Review by School Library Journal Review

Toddler-PreS-Boubo is no longer a baby; he's a big boy. He has big eyes and a big nose. He only wears "nappies" (diapers) one day a week. And there are so many things that convince him he is big, but especially his mother's reassurance that he is her "biggest love." Toddlers will relate to this sweet story of being babies no more, and delight in the pride their increasing independence brings. The mixed-media illustrations are charming, with shapes cut from patterned paper-and-ink line drawings. Alemagna has created an expressive story that will engage her audience. Although Boubo is not quite human, it is unclear what kind of animal he is. But it really does not matter. His joy at achieving toddler milestones is heartwarming. VERDICT Recommended addition to toddler collections, as well as an inspiration for art teachers who enjoy teaching various styles of illustration.-Mary Hazelton, formerly at Warren & Waldoboro Elementary Schools, ME © Copyright 2015.
