Review by School Library Journal Review

Gr 1-3-A highly illustrated chapter book for newly independent readers. The excitable little owl, Eva, explains how, after her teacher reads a spooky story, she sees a real ghost. Unfortunately, no one seems to believe her. Along with her best friend, Lucy, she goes on a ghost hunt in order to get the evidence she needs. The narrative is written as short diary entries on lined notebook-style pages. There are word balloons with dialogue as well as several sidebars with checklists and a questionnaire that Eva develops. Chock-full of full-color illustrations on every page, the book features plenty of visual appeal. © Copyright 2015. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. Review by Horn Book Review

Eva Wingdale is a crafty, beret-wearing young owl who takes on more than she can handle when planning "the first-ever Treetop Owlementary's Bloomtastic Festival," and then tries to prove to her classmates that she saw a ghost. Each journal-style book is filled with colorful patterns and drawings that match Eva's punchy personality and aid in comprehension. Discussion questions are included. [Review covers the following Owl Diary titles: Eva Sees a Ghost and Eva's Treetop Festival.] (c) Copyright 2015. The Horn Book, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
