Review by Booklist Review

Gameknight999 aka Tommy Feynman is a huge Minecraft fan. He is such a fan that he actually managed to digitize himself and enter the world of the game, where he established himself as a legend among the NPCs (non-player characters) that live there. In his latest adventure, which is the first book in a new story arc, he has to reenter Minecraft to pursue his sister and stop a megalomaniacal virus from leaving the game and infecting the real world. The book is not strong enough to appeal to readers who are not already invested in Minecraft, but for fans, there is material to enjoy. Because Gameknight999 can travel between the real world and the Minecraft universe, readers can enjoy either reading about playing the game or having adventures within the game. The story is formulaic and the characters stock, but the action sequences are sufficiently exciting. Themes of loyalty to family and the negative impact of bullying are overplayed but will likely resonate with the book's intended audience.--Dean, Kara Copyright 2010 Booklist
