Friends Koko and Alex return to study science, engineering, and more in this fact-filled activity book, which follows My Animal Book, My Big World, and other titles from U.K. children's magazine Okido. Questions like "How was this book made?" and "What is a machine?" drive readers forward as they learn about water, light, movement, and more. In a section about materials, readers are asked to consider the usefulness of a paper hammer and a bicycle made from wool, while a spread devoted to how television works encourages kids to make one out of a cardboard box. It's an entertaining introduction to an array of useful scientific concepts. Ages 4-up. (Apr.) © Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved.

Gr 2-4-This eye-catching book of infographics explains how different processes work, such as how a house is constructed, energy is consumed, and books are published. Among the other topics covered are light, sound, machines, measurement, and musical instruments. Spreads devoted to games, crafts, and activities are interspersed, making this a strong option for those who enjoy interactive elements. Ecologically friendly behavior is demonstrated throughout. The illustrations and diagrams are straightforward and accessible and convey a lot of information. Recommendations for adult assistance when appropriate are included. VERDICT A solid addition for general collections or those in need of science-related activity books.-Heidi Grange, Summit Elementary School, Smithfield, UT © Copyright 2015.
