Review by Booklist Review

Cardigans are a favorite project of knitters, and this volume features a handsome selection to choose from. It does lean toward the conservative, with hardly a flared bottom or a peplum in sight. Rather, these are sweaters with a purpose, and, for the fun of it, each one has been given a suitable title. The Florist's Cardigan is shown in a leaf-green, staggered rib-pattern knit in a sturdy worsted yarn, while the Beach Cardigan is a blue-and-white number that uses a slip-stitch pattern to obtain a striped effect. The Minister's Cardigan (worn by an actual female minister with collar) looks like it came from the wardrobe room of the The Vicar of Dibley, and several others have a vintage feel. Everything is nicely presented here: clear instructions, an easy-to-read font, and, most helpful, full-color photographs, including a full-bleed photo of the sweater, as well as others that show the sweaters from various angles. Unfortunately, there are no schematics. Men aren't forgotten; there are three offerings for gents. Helpful author's tips conclude.--Cooper, Ilene Copyright 2014 Booklist
