Paper cutting has a variety of applications, from cards to decor to jewelry, and this collection explores the basics using simple supplies-all that's needed for most of the projects is a craft knife and cardstock or patterned paper. Each of the designers featured here has a different style: Ali Harrison exhibits simple freehand minimalism, Ellen Deakin offers quirky patterned-paper animals, and Cynthia Shaffer demonstrates clever combinations of freehand cutting and decorative paper punches. The instructions clearly designate the needed supplies, and the directions for each project are easy to follow and include variations as well as tips for better paper crafting. While beginners will appreciate the variety of projects, some entries are also excellent for scrapbookers or seasoned paper crafters who have scraps they'd like to put to good use. VERDICT These paper crafting projects will appeal to crafters interested in exploring the world of paper cutting without investing in a plethora of tools or an electronic cutter. © Copyright 2015.
