Twins Joules and Kevin Rockman tackle a fresh set of ferocious, alien lagomorphs in this equally daffy sequel to Attack of the Fluffy Bunnies (2010). Newly arrived from planet Stenchopia, three Foofs (Fierce, Obnoxious, Odoriferous Furballs) with overdeveloped schnozzes have concocted a dastardly scheme to escalate their Smellepathic powers of mind control by serving a very special chili at an annual fund-raiser for TBD School. Between digressions by the easily distracted narrator and cartoonish illustrations from Santat, who also contributes several comics panels, readers get an exciting interstellar backstory and a tale that rollicks along to a science-project-like climax, involving industrial quantities of beans, baking soda, and vinegar-soaked slaw. The Foofs, who act like the Three Stooges when they're not collapsing in hysteria over poot jokes, don't get enough time on stage. Still, methodical Kevin and Joules perfectly characterized as the one who likes to poke new situations with a stick make a good team and, with help from a lunch lady, save humanity from becoming an all-you-can-eat buffet.--Peters, John Copyright 2015 Booklist

Joules and Kevin battle evil alien rabbits again, and these bunnies have extra-large noses, a premise ripe for jokes about smell. Beaty keeps the direct-address wisecracks coming, helped along by Santat's too-goofy-to-be-scary drawings and occasional comic strips. Hand this to your favorite smart aleck, especially if that smart aleck liked the predecessor, Attack of the Fluffy Bunnies. (c) Copyright 2015. Can Earth again be in peril from extraterrestrial bunnies?Last summer, at Camp Whatsitooya, twins Joules and Kevin Rockman foiled the Fierce, Large, Ugly and Ferocious Furballs' attempt to take over the world (Attack of the Fluffy Bunnies, 2010). The Fluffs, who resemble nothing so much as adorable white bunnies (except for the swirly eyes), thrive on sweet scents, so the Rockman twins were able to knock them out with stench. It's no surprise, then, that when Joules and her brother see a news story about a rocket crashing near the abandoned Snottie's Tissue factory, they fear the worst. When their loopy science teacher, Mr. H, brings a white bunny with a huge schnoz and swirly eyes to class, the twins suspect that "the worst" might be a sunny vacation compared to what's in store for their school, the town and the world. Since all the adults are dunderheads, it's up to the twins now that the Fluffs have come againor could these creatures be something even more evil, more dangerous, moresmelly? Beaty propels her second bad bunny book with deadpan slapstick and sarcasm. Santat's occasional illustrations extend both story and humor, especially the short graphic-panel sequences (which are sorely lacking in the second half). The flatulent climax is a bit flat, but it sets up another volume nicely enough. Armageddon-averting fun for fans of Jon Scieszka's Spaceheadz and M.T. Anderson's Pals in Peril.
