Review by Booklist Review

Agnone offers a series of visual puzzles based on crisp, attractive photos. One double-page spread shows a jumble of sports equipment on a field and invites readers to find 4 hockey sticks, 1 pair of swim goggles, and so on. Another shows pictures of several spirals, from an ammonite fossil to a galaxy, and asks questions about them. Other pages challenge viewers to find camouflaged animals or to spot the differences between two nearly identical photos. While many puzzlers are based on photos from the natural world, the inclusion of scenes in cities and at a carnival add variety. Readers who can't get enough puzzles will enjoy the More Challenges appended pages, which ask additional questions about the previous photos. Baffled kids will be pleased to find the answers appended as well. Intensively colorful page design adds to the appeal of this somewhat uneven but often engaging book.--Phelan, Carolyn Copyright 2014 Booklist

Gr 2-6-Does your library need a fresh change from the "I Spy" series? Agnone has met the challenge in this collection of visual puzzles. Viewers are given problems to solve (such as finding the difference between two images). Featuring hidden animals, double takes, and optical illusions, this selection would be perfect for readers who like to interact with the books they enjoy. Fun facts appear throughout. National Geographic is known for its stunning photography, and it does not fall short here. At the end, readers will find more to explore through a "More Challenges" section. A fun offering that will give children a new way of looking at the world.-Katy Charles, Virgil Elementary School, Cortland, NY (c) Copyright 2014.
