David Kerslake-Somerford, the newly minted Earl of Wyvern, is in desperate need of an heiress to marry. With her considerable dowry, Lucy Potter is currently the hottest prospect for fortune hunters in London searching for a rich wife, so it would only be logical for David to set his matrimonial sights on her. However, back in Devonshire, David is Captain Drake, the leader of the Dragon's Horde smuggling gang. The very first time David crosses paths with Lucy, she informs him of her views on freetraders in no uncertain terms. As tempting as Lucy and her considerable dowry might be, David knows the more time he spends with her, the more likely Lucy is to make the connection between Wyvern and Drake. RITA Award-winning Beverley returns to her impeccably crafted Regency-set Company of Rogues world with another thrilling romance. Scenes set in both London and Devonshire are handled with perfect aplomb, and the chemistry Beverley brews up between David (first introduced as a smuggling master in The Dragon's Bride, 2001) and Lucy is pure passion.--Charles, John Copyright 2014 Booklist

Blonde, blue-eyed, beautiful, and business-minded, Lucinda Potter is not the feather-brain she appears to be. She also has no plans to wed-except for love. Her wealthy merchant father's unexpected announcement that he plans to remarry and a chance to have a London Season coincide, so Lucy decides to have some fun. When fortune hunters soon begin to annoy her, though, Lucy convinces David Kerslake-Somerford, the infamous new Earl of Wyvern, to discourage them by pretending to court her (in return for a kiss a day), knowing he's not attracted to her at all. VERDICT A notorious nobleman who needs to marry for money, a merchant's daughter who's more clever than he thinks, and a handful of characters reprised from Beverley's beloved "Rogues" novels meet in a fast-paced, rugged, swashbuckling exploit with strong ties to The Dragon's Bride (2001); with all of Beverley's trademark sensuality, humor, and flair. -Beverley (Seduction in Silk) lives in England.
