Gabby Goodwin can't forget the prejudices she grew up with as a poor child in a trailer park in Cricket Creek. She always had a crush on Reese Marino, but she thinks he is not the steady, secure type she promised her dying mother she would marry. Reese may have been a troublemaker when he was young, but he's a talented chef and restaurant owner now, and he's ready to settle down with the woman he's always dreamed about, Gabby. McLane makes this couple very appealing. Gabby's yearning for security as a new business owner is realistic and engaging, and her and Reese's courtship makes for a lovely, sweetly sexy, terrifically enjoyable read. Minor characters and their story lines, including those featuring Reese's parents, his Uncle Tony, and his attractive, maddening neighbor are also compelling and add conflict and tension. McLane's Cricket series is similar in style to Susan Wiggs' bestselling Lakeshore Chronicles.--Alessio, Amy Copyright 2014 Booklist

McLane's sixth Cricket Creek novel (after Moonlight Kiss) provides sweet romance with small-town southern charm. Gabby Goodwin has finally achieved her dream of owning a flower shop in Cricket Creek, Ky. She's unprepared for her attraction to former town bad boy, Reese Marino. As their romance slowly blossoms, Reese must convince Gabby that he has left his teenage misdeeds behind to become a successful business owner, while Gabby must overcome her terror of being attracted to the type of faithless man who abandoned her mother. Meanwhile, Reese's Uncle Tony tries to get past the betrayal of his ex-wife when his sexy new neighbor, Trish Daniels, catches his eye. McLane weaves together walks in the moonlight, stolen glances, and kisses under the stars with seduction and sizzling sex, populating the carefully crafted story with a cast of affable characters.
