Gr 4 Up-For parents, the "Baby Blues" comic strip can be a humorous reflection of everyday family life. For children, the popular strip provides a glimpse into the world of adults. Some kids (especially those with younger siblings) will delight in this shift in perspective; others may have trouble identifying. As the title suggests, the focus here is on parenthood more than anything else. Darryl and Wanda MacPherson navigate the responsibilities of work and family while attempting to maintain their sanity. Their two small children (which expands to three in this book) aren't easy on them. There are certainly laughs, but most scenarios appeal to a more adult sensibility. The loose cartoon illustrations pair nicely with the text and are laid out in a way that is clear and easy to read. Some kids may get the jokes, but the book doesn't hold the same level of appeal as elementary-school standards like "Garfield" and "Calvin & Hobbes."-Travis Jonker, Dorr Elementary School, MI (c) Copyright 2011.
