Nina is having a rough first day back at school. Her parents divorced over the summer, the mean girls at school won't leave her alone, and now she's hearing voices. Is she imagining things or is a fairy really whispering the answers to her in class? It turns out it's the latter a fairy named Sybil has taken up residence in Nina's backpack and now life has just gotten a lot more interesting. A few questions still tug at Nina's conscience, though. Is Sybil as nice as she seems? And how did Sybil become Nina's fairy? Dalena and Razzi's artwork features a crisp mix of manga- and Disney-influenced aesthetics and a bright color palette. Rodigue's sassy humor and dialogue will appeal to any young reader who has ever wished that a fairy would do their chores, complete their homework, and get revenge on the bad guys (or gals).--Mack, Candice Copyright 2010 Booklist
