Dylan Monroe, self-centered, materialistic, and superficial, is blowing through a trust fund set up by her deceased father. She lives to shop all over St. Louis and even drops $10,000 at...OMG, Target! Outside of retail, her kryptonite is State, a wealthy record executive and part owner of an NBA team. She dreams of him sexing her with his "death stroke." Too bad he's secretly married to R&B diva Ashton. Of course, Dylan hates Ashton's perky breasts, petite hips, and round butt that screams "Boom, Boom, Pow!" This X-rated version of Gossip Girls features snippy dialog dominated by Dylan's friend Tee-Tee, a gay diva seeking his own lifelong love. Billie, Dylan's best friend, has her own marriage troubles as her quarterback hubby divorces her for a twenty-something airhead. Times are tough, so Dylan heads to Los Angeles and hooks up with former flame Angel, a heavyweight boxer. Why, oh, why, do all these men turn into versions of Jon Gosselin? Verdict Readers will wish for a soundtrack as the author drops dozens of music artists' names from Sade to John Legend. Bright and breezy, this Sex in the City knockoff will engage readers up to the very last word. Betcha you'll shout, "Oh, no, she didn't!"-Rollie Welch, "The Word on Street Lit," BookSmack! 9/16/10 (c) Copyright 2010. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
