Review by Publisher's Weekly Review
This beautiful book combines Bible story retellings with text about and photos from areas in the world where the relief agency World Vision works. The stories are illustrated by Peluso, whose pastel palette and child-friendly animals soften even difficult biblical tales. The biblical stories alternate with contemporary material from World Vision: short vignettes based in different countries, arresting color photos, and factoids, which combine to give the book the feel of an engaging geography lesson. The interpretive lens is evangelical Christian, so the book doesn't have multifaith use, but its global focus is appealingly broad. Proceeds benefit World Vision. Sunday schools can use the book to teach kids about global justice and-grandparent alert-it would also make a handsome gift. Ages 4-9. Agency: Alive Communications. (Oct.) (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC.
