Review by Horn Book Review

In two animal fables reissued in board book format, a tortoise learns he is safer in his shell, even if he is slow, and a python does [cf2]not[cf1] learn about greed and ends up swallowing himself. The moral tales are told in rather clunky rhyming couplets. Carle's collages are the strength of the books and are more suitable for the baby and toddler audience than is the text.
