Review by School Library Journal Review

Gr 10 Up-In this sequel to Angelfall, Ee brings listeners back to her postapocalyptic world where angels have descended and wreaked havoc on the world below. The angels in this drama are not the beautiful, godly, kind beings of lore, but instead are deadly, heartless creatures who experiment on humans and wish to eradicate them from the Earth. The story continues with Penryn struggling to keep her schizophrenic mother and recovering test subject sister, Paige, together. Things are beginning to look up until an angry mob abducts Paige because of her grotesque physique. Penryn and her mother make it their goal to find their ghastly family member, but they fall into a trap set by the angels. As the story unfolds, listeners will learn the fate of Raffe and the other angels who have made Earth a living nightmare with their hybrid scorpion creations. Narrator Caitlin Davies expertly narrates the graphic descriptions of carnage without a flinch. Vivid images make this title more suitable for older listeners. (Sinister music signals the beginning and end of each disk.) Listeners should have some familiarity with the first title in the series or they'll likely become lost. The ending hints at a third installment of the series. Purchase where the first is popular.-Amanda Schiavulli, Finger Lakes Library System, NY (c) Copyright 2014.
