Blogger and self-taught cookie decorator Edwards shares adorable and detailed designs for iced sugar cookies (e.g., Fourth of July Firecrackers, Sweet Squirrels, Wedding Dresses, and Mugs of Cocoa). Writing for novices, she carefully explains essential techniques (e.g., Thinning Royal Icing for Flooding) and provides step-by-step photos for all decorating instructions. She also includes custom templates, and an equipment and ingredient Resource Guide where readers will find sources for sprinkles, food colorings, shipping supplies, and more. VERDICT This doable decorating guide can prepare readers to tackle more challenging designs, like those in the inspiring but less explicit Biscuiteers Book of Iced Cookies (Kyle, 2010).
