Review by Library Journal Review
Somewhere between a catalog and a coffee-table book, this volume on sustainable architecture is short on words and long on photographs, mostly of thumbnail size. Compiled by Serrats (Compact Houses: Architecture for the Environment), this heavy (about 3 lbs.), colorful book is organized alphabetically by the names of the ecology-conscious architecture firms that are featured. A global work, the book was compiled in Spain and printed simultaneously in Canada and the United States, and covers firms in the Americas, Asia, Australia, and Europe. A typical entry includes photographs of the principal members of the architectural firm, color photographs of buildings or rooms or energy-efficient parts thereof, and schematic diagrams of the construction highlighted. There are no finding aids in the book other than the table of contents. VERDICT While not a DIY book, this title, and its numerous pictures, may well inspire amateur and professional designers and builders.-Sara R.
