Review by Booklist Review

Though it is unlikely that any kid could master such highly complicated pastimes solely with the help of a 32-page book, the Master This! series nonetheless has value in how it reveals that seemingly freewheeling endeavors actually require intense dedication and work. Each volume covers a lot of ground quickly and relies on helpful photos or illustrations to make the most of the short page length. Drumming pounds its way through equipment (including earplugs), how to set up your kit, posture, and grips and is illustrated with a preponderance of music notation. Throughout the series, boldface words are defined in a glossary, and boxes break out factoids, including Star File, which focuses on famous names. A great way to kindle the interest of students ready to put in some serious time.--Kraus, Daniel Copyright 2010 Booklist
