As the youngest of Phoebe's three daughters and the only one raised by their unconventional, band-groupie mother, Chloe has grown up with a perspective different from that of her sisters, Maddie and Tara, who lived with their fathers in stable, loving homes. Her asthma is triggered by stress, and with sexy sheriff Sawyer Thompson keeping a stern eye on her illegal but well-intentioned activity, her stress is unrelenting. But for the first time ever, she's ready to settle down and make a real contribution to the inn she co-owns with her sisters, and just maybe she's also ready to trust that Sawyer is the man for her. The third installment in Shalvis' Lucky Harbor contemporary-romance series (Simply Irresistible, 2010; The Sweetest Thing, 2011) offers another fun, quirky romp starring two loners who grew up believing that they're unlovable but who find home in each other's arms while making the town a better place to live.--Welch, Lynne Copyright 2010 Booklist

Review by Publisher's Weekly Review

Healthy doses of humor, lust, and love work their magic as Shalvis tells Chloe's story in her newest Lucky Harbor contemporary romance (after The Sweetest Thing). The youngest and most independent of three sisters, Chloe has always been drawn to the wilder side of life. She prefers spontaneity to routine, but her debilitating asthma keeps her in check, as do her sisters, with whom she runs Lucky Harbor's B&B. Meanwhile, Sawyer, the local sheriff, puts Chloe off balance with his rugged looks, constancy, and black-and-white view of life. As their chemistry heats up, the relationship develops from mere lust to something considerably deeper and possibly more permanent. Both Chloe and Sawyer must re-evaluate their longtime priorities and see where love falls on the list. Wit, smoking-hot passion, and endearing tenderness outweigh some cliched scenarios to make this novel a big winner. (Dec.) (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved.

Chloe has always had a reputation as a flighty, offbeat free spirit, but she's now working hard to prove to her sisters she can be a responsible business partner. Sawyer, the local sheriff, is straitlaced, serious, and, most annoying, always on hand when Chloe is in trouble. Whenever these two find themselves in the same room, tempers-and sparks-begin to fly. Will they find common ground, and maybe even love? VERDICT Charming, genuine main characters, real emotional connections, close family bonds, quirky small-town personalities, and just the right amount of sizzle make this a satisfying beach read.
