Review by Booklist Review
Young pet owners, report writers, and general animal lovers will all welcome this slim but substantive title in the Complete Pet Owner's Manual series. The chapters cover a wealth of information, beginning with a basic background on hamster breeds, natural habitats, and physical features. The majority of the book, though, focuses on caring for hamsters in a home environment, with tips on everything from cage cleaning to decoding unusual behaviors that might signal problems. The text is somewhat cramped, but the language is clear, informative, and unusually comprehensive, and the frequent well-reproduced color pictures and quick-reference charts help create a more inviting format. Resource lists and a digest of the most important points about hamster care close this indispensable reference.--Engberg, Gillian Copyright 2008 Booklist
