Review by Booklist Review

The heroes who use their stereotypical nerd characteristics (paste eating, allergies, braces) to achieve superhero status are back. This time a former NERD, Gertie Baker, has invented a machine that allows her to pop in and out of alternate realities. Unfortunately, the device is disrupting the universe, and NERD Matilda Wheezer Choi is sent to track Gertie down. Gertie's ultimate goal is to make a national cheerleading squad, which leads to encounters with distinctly unnerdlike characters and ultimately a maniacal monster named Screwball. Fans of the series will gladly recognize how the mayhem of the plot is well matched by a surfeit of quips and general goofiness of the highest order.--Morning, Todd Copyright 2010 Booklist
