Review by School Library Journal Review

Gr 3-6-This book addresses a number of thought-provoking questions and offers several paragraphs of commentary for each one. There are no definitive answers here. Baggini encourages youngsters to think about questions such as "Can we prove God exists?" and "Why would God allow evil?" and to develop their own ideas and critical-thinking abilities. A few quotes on religion are sprinkled throughout, along with "Brain Burn!" queries that ask readers to stretch their understanding of morality and religion. The bright, modernist cartoon illustrations lighten the heavy subject and provide humorous asides throughout. Under the question "Is God a man?" a peeved-looking dark-skinned woman on a cloud looks on as an artist paints the traditional white bearded image of God. This is an excellent title for sparking conversation and inspiring personal philosophizing.-Rebecca Donnelly, Loma Colorado Public Library, Rio Rancho, NM (c) Copyright 2012.
