When the queen's magic mirror declares that Snow White is the fairest of them all, the young princess flees and ends up with seven squat bears that are not happy to see a princess. In an effort to get rid of her, they decide to send one squat bear to find a prince to marry her. The bear first encounters a blue bird that claims to be an enchanted prince; then he finds another prince at a ball; then the three meet a sobbing beast that claims to be yet another enchanted prince. Then they all run afoul of the fairy godmother when they attempt to play a trick on her. Savvy young readers will recognize the princes from various familiar stories and enjoy the funny twists that French cartoonist Bravo introduces in this fun fairy-tale mash-up. His colorful art adds to the humor, and the simple panel design and picture-book shape provide an unintimidating introduction to the comics format.--Kan, Ka. Copyright 2010 Booklist
