PreS-Gr 2 This new book about the adventures of Spot will be eagerly greeted by his fans. The clear, simple color illustrations of objects will be easily identified by toddlers, and the ``lift-the-flap'' sections are fully integrated with the text and illustrations. In this story, the engaging puppy chases his toy ball as it bounces into and through a circus tent. Youngsters will delight in lifting the cleverly disguised flaps each time Spot believes he has found his ballonly to discover that he has mistaken it for the clown's nose, the elephant's balloons, or the bareback rider's ball. He continues his search until he finds it balanced on the end of a seal's nose. The ending has a nice twist: the seal teaches Spot to balance the ball on the end of his own nose. Story hour participants as well as beginning readers will love to explore the big top with Spot. Louise M. Zuckerman, formerly at San Francisco Public Library (c) Copyright 2010.
