In this fourth Dragonbreath adventure, Danny and his best friend, Wendell, rescue a bat from drowning in the swimming pool and take a bus ride to Mexico, where Danny's cousin Steve works as a bat researcher. When they visit a bat cave, a giant bat monster the Camazotz of the Zapotecs (real legendary bat monster, real civilization) kidnaps Danny. Now, timid Wendell has to rescue his buddy. Vernon's lively prose and sporadic yet equally lively comics panels provide lots of humor and suspenseful action for fans of Danny and Wendell, along with information about bats guaranteed to make readers go eewww! --Kan, Kat Copyright 2010 Booklist

Danny Dragonbreath (a dragon) and Wendell (an iguana) find a trapped bat. They take it to Danny's cousin, Steve, who studies bats in the Mexican jungle. When Danny is kidnapped by a giant bat monster, it's up to Wendell and Steve to rescue him.
